I’m delighted to be one of six composers selected to take part in a mentoring scheme run by the ABRSM to write educational music.
The mentoring programme is designed to “encourage composers from a broad range of backgrounds to write for exam syllabuses and a range of other educational contexts, so they can, in turn, inspire the diversity and musical progression of generations of new musicians”. During the six-month programme I will receive specialist support and guidance from leading composers and educators to complete a series of compositional tasks relating to a wide range of educational contexts.
I’m really excited to be working with the ABRSM and mentors Sarah Watts and Andy Grappy, along with the other fabulous composers taking part in the scheme: Amit Anand, Ben Lunn, Florence Anna Maunders, Hyokyung Jung and Michael Betteridge.
